Sad but true: I look much better as a Simpsons character than I do in real life.
Homer Simpson meets Adrian Monk.
I know, thats a remarkably odd combination, but its me in a nutshell. Some days Im a little more Monkish, some a little more Homeresqueits my own inner yin and yang struggling to achieve balance, usually with mixed results.
Besides Monk and The Simpsons, Im a big fan of many game shows (and have tried and failed to make it on Jeopardy! an embarrassingly high number of times), Lost, M*A*S*H, Jericho (R.I.P.) and a few other shows.
Not that I see many movies now with a little one around, but the all-time favorites list includes the Star Wars saga, the Indiana Jones trilogy (and soon-to-be fourth installment, Im sure), most Batman movies (except for the unfortunate George Clooney incident), the Spider-Man films, Forrest Gump and most of the Pixar movies.
Musically, I am a proud child of the 80s (see some of my iTunes favorites below). Sad though it may be to think of my music as oldies now, I realize a generation has passed since Dire Straits (OK, Sting) sang I want my MTV, Journey and Foreigner ruled the charts and music from the Brat Pack films was all over the radio. Thank goodness for iPods, so I can get my fix of the big hair era anytime I want, even as hair is a thing of the past for me.
I'm a gadget head, though my budget limits my ability to buy too many new guy toys. That doesnt stop me from looking over the weekly Best Buy circulars with the glee I once had for the Kiddie City (bonus points for anyone who remembers that chain of stores) catalogs.
So that's me, a Homer/Monk combo. Hmmm, if Brad and Angelina can be Brangelina, and Ben and Jennifer can be Bennifer, that must mean Homer and Monk together can be pronounced as "Hunk."
