Pros: friendly employees, no extra charge for additional driver if spouse, nice vehicle Cons: none
Last week my family and I made a trip to South Carolina to see my stepson, Billy, graduate from the Marines boot camp. We were planning on leaving early Tuesday morning, but decided to get our rental car a day early so we could get it all packed up the ...

Pros: Car ran well. Employee on the phone very good. Returning staff efficient. Cons: Dirty car. Uncaring employees, who didn't listen, when picking up vehicle. No manual.
Update of October 26th, 2005. I wanted to put this at the top of the review because ciao.com and the Head of Customer Relations for Avis, U.K. have just made my day. I get very little time to go on Ciao.com, and didn't even know there were 2 ...

Pros: Fast checkin and return Cons: High prices, limited selection of cars
Do you remember when Avis used to run commercials saying "we're number two, so we try harder" The commercials made some sense. If you're not the market leader, but you want to be, then you better do whatever you can to give the people what the want. ...

Pros: Vehicle selection. Quick transportation to/from airport. Professional staff. No surprise charges. Cons: Daily rental rate was a bit high.
I have long viewed rental car agencies with disdain. I have had advance reservations disappear, rental rates not honored, additional charges magically materialize, and have been read the riot act over my decision not to accept the additional ...

Pros: Preferred rental service makes renting way easier Cons: Poor maintenance on vehicles
For the past three years or so, I have been a pretty loyal National Car Rental fan. I love the ease of reserving cars on-line, their customer service has always been phenomenal and nothing beats the Emerald Aisle options. Recently I have rented ...

Pros: A good selection of vehicles for all budgets. Global online, real-time reservations systems. Cons: None. We were very happy with our little VW Chico!
In Cape Town, South Africa, most well-known car rental companies offer similar rates, similar cars, and there isn’t much product differentiation. Avis is a familiar name, but the decisive factor to use this company was the fact that customers ...

Pros: In Orlando, super airport access. Cons: None, that I can think of.
Avis Rent-a-car? The next time I have the need to rent a vehicle, Avis will be on the top of my list. In my life, the occasion to rent a car is usually one car on business and one for pleasure. In this impressive case, Avis took a bad situation, which...

Pros: Royal treatment for Preferred Renters (which is free now) Cons: Denver Airport location Customer Service
I have been an Avis car renter since my company switched from Hertz at the end of 1995. I was never a Hertz #1 Gold Club member, just the regular corporate renter. For the first 6 months of having to use Avis, I wasn't an...

Pros: Usually less expensive than other rental companies, and always on-site at the airport Cons: Can't guarantee a non-smoking car
I'm cheap. Sure, there are certain things I'm willing to spend money on - a wonderful meal, books, CDs, plants - but when I travel, I do so on the cheap. I'd rather spend less getting there so I can spend more being there.
For...

Pros: Better than Hertz or Alamo Cons: Extra charges, no preferred programme if you prepay, after-rental Customer Service
Virtually all the car rental I've done has been in UK, arriving at London Heathrow or Gatwick, so my experience has been almost exclusively with the rental companies there. Typically I rent once or twice a month.
I rented with Hertz for a...

Pros: quick, friendly check-in and return; inexpensive; decent car Cons: Fuel costs if you don't fill up yourself; taxes are killer
It's been a while since I've rented a car. Even my last few vacations have involved us driving or being luggage for relatives/friends to take around. So, I had to learn a little bit about them when I planned our recent trip to St. Augustine, FL. Here ...

Pros: Super Fast Airport Service Cons: Frequent Flyer awards are limited
Imagine if all service companies were as excellent as Avis! Imagine if Avis diversified. Avis Airlines would run on schedule; Avis Dry Cleaners would pick up your clothes when you pull in the driveway; Avis Long Distance would have humans answering their...

Pros: Preferred Status is the Bomb!!!!! Cons: They prefer you call ahead but it's not a requirement
Go with Avis!!!!
Avis has a preferred member card that you can get. With this card, you get supreme customer service and no-hassel car rentals. I just recently joined this and have thoroughly gotten benefits from it.
With the Avis...

Pros: price, service, size of cars Cons: I have to leave room in my suitcase for CD's
Unless I am with a client, in a class, or sleeping- I'm listening to music. I have a records, tapes, and MP3's, but mostly I have CD's. Most of the music that I usually want to listening to is on a CD.
I travel a good amount for business....

Pros: Customer service!!!!! Cons: What's not to like? It's pricier than Enterprise, for me at least.
It’s been a long time since I’ve had to rent a car. In fact, the last time I rented a car was with one of the many breakdowns of my 1997 Ford Taurus. I got rid of that car a year or so ago, and haven’t needed a rental since.
My experience...
