Pros: Everything you need is on the mountain, good snowmaking, varied terrain Cons: Can be quite a drive to get there, expensive, a "corporate" mountain
One of the east’s largest ski resorts, Sunday River in Bethel Maine offers over 600 acres of skiable terrain and a 2340 foot vertical drop in addition to extensive slope-side amenities that make Sunday River a true destination resort. The ...

Pros: varied terrain, relatively consistent conditions Cons: long drive, nightlife
...is the pretty obvious pseudonym I used for Sunday River when I referred to it in a story I wrote in third grade. Sixteen years later, I still like the place. Though I still enjoy a nice trip to Colorado or Utah to go skiing on some really incredible...

Pros: snowmaking, variety of terrain, accomodations Cons: huge complex, easy to get lost, bit expensive
First rate snowmaking gets the season started early
and also provides a great spring skiing experience,
often well into April. Terrain includes everything
except EXTREME. Fast lifts, superb grooming
operations and apres' ski...

Pros: Challenging, Diverse, good snow, great lifts Cons: isolated
Sunday River, located in the isolated woods of Maine, is the best place in the East that I have ever skied. I have been to a number of places in NY and New England, and Sunday River is by far the best. Why? Lots of reasons why. Great terrain, a...

Pros: Slopes, snow conditions Cons: East coast snow is not great
Right off the bat I will say given the choice I would go to the Rockies. You can't even compare the two regions.
But if you just want a weekend getaway and you live on the coast Sunday River is an excellent choice.
There are lots...

Pros: Great skiing, all a skier could ask for and more. Cons: Zero nightlife and I do mean ZERO.
I am an avid skier who loves to go to new places to see what they are all about. I knew that Sunday River is one of the best-rated peaks in the East in both snowfall and variety. So I decided to go there for the New Year's holiday with my girlfriend...

Pros: Brilliant Scenery, lovely people and brilliant lifts compared to Europe. Cons: The lack of runs towards end of break and the afternoon mush.
The attraction of skiing is amazing. If you have been just ones you will know what I mean. We visited the resort last year in the spring towards the end of the season and still the snow was there. This was the second time I had been to the resort and...

Pros: Great Trails, Views of Mt. Washington, 8 peaks to ski!!! Cons: no mountain top dining, only a few high speed quads
We recently visited Sunday River for a weekend of spring skiing. Although much of the snow was melting away at other eastern resorts, there was still plenty of great skiing to be found at Sunday River. The drive from Boston is not really any longer...

Pros: Great Snow, Diverse Terrain, and No New Yorkers! Cons: Limited Dining and Nightlife, and Distance from Boston
I own a townhouse at Sunday River, and thus make the 3+ hour drive from Boston about twice a month during the winter. We bought the townhouse because I believe Sunday River has the best snowmaking (and thus most reliable skiing conditions) in the East,...

Pros: Brew Pub, Grooming, Bethel Cons: Crowds, cost, too many New Yorkers
Every year for 15 years, I have made at least one trip to Sunday River, and it continues to be my favourite ski resort. Although I usually stay off the resort, I find the amenities to my liking, especially Squaw Cap. The staff are very friendly,...

Pros: Best snow making, wonderful expert trails, eight interconnected mountains, and glades Cons: Remote location
Set in the stunningly beautiful mountains of rural Eastern Maine is the Sunday River Ski Resort. This oasis/paradise for skiers of all ability levels may be a distant drive from home, but what you get in return is well worth the effort. Speaking purely...

Pros: cheap, fun, and not crowded Cons: not much of any
What could be better than a large New England Resort, 100+ trails, and zero lift lines, and and not busting my balls to pay for the trip. That's what I did. Your stars might not be aligned as mine were to be able to make such a trip, but I can point...

Pros: Very, very big...tons of variety of runs. Cons: The hugeness of the mountain can be a negative.
If you want variety of trails and a huge mountain filled with not only skiing, then Sunday River is the place for you. I have been several times and loved Sunday River's environment and ski terrain every time. There are runs for everyone: wide, green...
