Pros: Variety of terrain, gladed tree riding, Aspen is a helluva town Cons: Aspen is a helluva pricey town, some slow lifts, remote location
Aspen Snowmass is a large mountain with more trails than you will probably ever ride. I have visited this resort twice both in March and both times with fresh powder falling from the sky. Needless to say, I had a great time.
Pros: Trails at all ability levels, higher altitude keeps snow from getting icy! Cons: Two chairlift rides required to do double diamonds at Snowmass
A ski trip involves three things - the Mountains, the Restaurants and the Condo, so I'll cover it in that order.
I went with eight guys for five days of skiing on Jan 17 2003.
Pros: Exceptional scenery, low prices out of season, many outdoor activities, sensational weather conditions Cons: Prices extremely high during the winter months.
We had just finished spending a few glorious days in Vail, Colorado. Our trip to Vail consisted of cheering from the sidelines while our son ran a Vail Mountain Marathon, staying in a condo that was beyond our wildest expectations and just enjoying the...
Pros: Fantastic skiing--small crowds--great management of a ski area--best grooming of the slopes in Colorado Cons: Expensive
I moved to Denver Colorado 28 years ago. My wife and I were living in Ohio, where we were both originally from. For some reason, we always thought living in Colorado would be great, even though we had never visited there. In 1971 we took up skiing....
I first came to Aspen/Snowmass when I was 21 to be a skibum for a season, and luckily obtained two night jobs so that I could actually ski daily. The best year of my life. Sigh. Now I usually return to Aspen on my winter skiing sojourns for a number ...
Pros: More affordable than most think, offering unrivaled beauty in a friendly, family oriented atmosphere. Cons: Aspen can be a bit pretentious. Then again, there's no other place like it.
Our family has been going to Snowmass Village since 1986. We have tried other ski resorts, but always keep coming back to Snowmass. Their ski school is fantastic, especially for kids. They recognize that the children are on vacation too, and the...
Pros: new developments, chairs, condos and trails Cons: still need 1 more lift
Aspen Highlands, a once-sleepy afterthought for vacationers, is becoming the most up-to-date resort in Colorado. The once rickety wooden base buildings are being replaced by a solid stylish mix of European and "American Alpine" structures. Not...
Pros: Great "off season" resort Cons: Expensive even in off season
I had the opportunity to visit Aspen in the fall and it's more than just a place to ski. The atmosphere was laid back without the normal hustle and bustle of the ski season. The scenery was exquisite, and if you love the outdoors you'll find plenty to...
Pros: (SNOWMASS) outstanding variety, no lift lines, very user-friendly Cons: (ASPEN/AJAX) overrated, crowded, overskied
Snowmass is an excellent place to ski. Its best feature is its incredible variety of terrain for all levels and styles of skier. Add in the fact that Snowmass is huge, relatively untrekked and so easy to use, and you have a winner. I have been skiing ...
Pros: Charm, variety of terrain, great evening revelry. Cons: Can be expensive if you enjoy yourself.
I have been to Aspen twice. First visit was with my son, the snowboard kid; and once to enjoy myself with other adult friends.I had a great skiing and town experience both times. I stayed in Aspen on both visits. If you stay there, at night you can walk...
Pros: a clutz like me could learn to ski at Snowmass, not crowded, nice people Cons: I didn't pay for our trip-but I understand it is expensive to ski there
When I first started dating my boyfriend, Mark, I soon found out that I would too have to become a snowbunny like the rest of his family. I feared our trip to Snowmass because I had never downhill skied in my life. I also have had surgery on my...
There's more to the Aspen-Snowmass area than skiing. If you go during the summer and fall months, there's still plenty to see and do. During the fall months, you can see how the town of Aspen got it's name - the Aspen leaves are gold and shimmer in the...
Pros: Long Long Runs, Incredible Vert., No lift lines, You have the mountain to yourself Cons: A bit Expensive
We loved our trip to snowmass! You always here how built-up and busy the Aspen area is, well this may be true at the Highlands or Mountain, but we had Snowmass to ourselves!! The town of Aspen itself is very busy and I can see how Aspen Mountain...
Pros: no lines, great restaurants, nice ski runs, no snowboarder's Cons: very expensive, crowded in season
Hello to all you ski lovers or perhaps you like to hike or mountain bike? You can do all this at Aspen mountain. I recently returned home from Aspen and had a wonderful time.
A great time to go is out of season for many reasons. I...
Pros: great skiing and hotels Cons: the Crestwood is somewhat expensive
I have been to Aspen - Snowmass with my family twice in the past three years. We absolutely love it there. Each time we have gone we have stayed at the Crestwood Resort in Snowmass Village. It is a beautiful resort with easy access to the ski lifts,...
