Pros: Nice, clean, modern, humane...what more could you want?? Cons: Not a huge collection of animals...
Don't take my word for it...ask a kid! Sure, I think the Tulsa Zoo is one of the smartest, nicest, most pleasant zoos in America, but a zoo is really a kid experience, and to get a truly unbiased opinion, sometimes, you got to consult ...
Pros: Park layout allows long pleasant walks. New butterfly exhibit! Cons: Easy to get heatstroke. Wish there were more animals and larger exhibits.
Really - the animals pose for the camera. First the geese, then the more exotic swan. Then the cute little Marmadukes (like big chipmunks) in their cage stand on their hind legs with their front little paws in a cute begging position and they stand...
Pros: great habitats, very clean Cons: food and drinks are a little costly
I live about 35 miles from Tulsa, OK and have lived here for all 27 years of my life. I used to go to the Tulsa Zoo as a child, with the school and with my family. It was good and I enjoyed it. Over the years, I have watched this zoo grow and expand...
Pros: We could see the animals inside their homes! Cons: There was some construction in one of the building so we didn't get to go in it.
I live in NE Oklahoma and have all my life. My parents took my brother, sister, and I to the zoo at Tulsa every year when we were growing up! I now like to share this same experience with my children. Our last trip to the zoo was the week before...
The Tulsa Zoo - A Family Favorite by leeannwriter ,May 03 '05
Pros: Good zoo in a manageable size Cons: Gift shop and snack shop are expensive
Although our family lives about two hours away, we enjoy visits to the Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum so much that we bought a family season pass. The cost was very affordable and it also entitles us to free parking in Mohawk Park (where the zoo is located).
We've visited zoos in many other cities and some are larger but the Tulsa Zoo is well laid out. The habitat buildings are nice and gives you a chance to see the animals without sweating in the sun all the time! There is some shade and lots of picnic tables. You are allowed to bring in picnic lunches which is the best way to go if you're spending the day because the zoo snack shop food is expensive and not very good.
My kids love the carousel and the zoo train. If you get tired of walking, take a turn around the zoo on the train.
Pros: Clean, well laid out. Good variety of animals. Cons: None.
My husband and I enjoy going to zoos in different cities we visit. This zoo is well laid out, clean, and has the most variety of animals I have seen at a zoo so far. The sidewalks made maneuvering a wheelchair throughout the exhibits easy. The entrances to the animals were close enough to get a good look at them and provided good picture taking. The animals appear to be healthy and living in clean quarters.
