Pros: Unique experience, fun for ages, gives an appreciation for wildlife Cons: A little out of the way.
I was first introduced to Fossil Rim by a sibling of mine who lives in Texas. When I first heard of this make believe land I of course was skeptical and wary thinking it was either too good to be true or no one comes out alive. Fossil Rim is located ...

Pros: Very interesting and educational. Cons: There always comes a time that you must leave.
We have visited Fossil Rim on many occasions, and at different times of the year and it is always a good experience. This is an afternoon which every member of the family can enjoy. You will see many different African animals in a natural setting, and...

Pros: Wide, open spaces for the animal with beautiful scenery. Cons: A little expensive for a family.

Safari Trip in Texas with s.t. for Everyone
by mollysrain ,Jun 19 '06
Pros: Wildlife in a non-zoo setting, diverse activities, range of prices. Cons: Animal sightings not guaranteed--prepare for Texas weather; may be hot, rainy, cold. Can get expensive.
I've been going to Fossil Rim for at least 5 years now with my fiance, my family, and on solo trips. The park always has new things to see and do and has trips for every budget. You may choose to drive through the park and feed the animals from your car (bring a picnic lunch for the top of the hill as lunch at the cafe can be expensive) or you may choose to have a behind the scenes tour and stay at the lodge in a luxurious suite. I love this little get-away and especially love the environmentally friendly stance the organization takes. A great learning experience no matter who you are. I started going out there studying animal behavior and have met professional photographers, future animal trainers, and vet students among many other interesting people.
