by wgs49 , May 10 '02
Pros: Size of cabin and food in the Lido Court
Cons: Service in the dining room. Captain ran a very poor ship.

Adventures in Paradise

by jrowland , Dec 29 '99
Pros: itinerary, spacious cabins, great weather
Cons: crowded public areas, hurried port calls
Holland America's Statendam sails from San Diego from fall through late winter to Hawaii for either an 8-day or 16-day cruise. We went full circle, stopping in Kona (Hawaii), Lahaina (Maui), Honolulu (Oahu), Nawiliwili (Kauai), and Hilo (Hawaii)....

by rickan , Jan 20 '02
Pros: Best ship I've ever been on; great staff; great track; big cabins
Cons: Nothing yet; I'm on the ship now and will add if something comes up.
We are on the ms Statendam in the middle of the Pacific Ocean on our way to Hawaii. I'm writing this from their internet cafe that provides 24 hour high speed internet access for the entire cruise for only $200. What a nice touch for our cruise!!

Cruise in Style

by jkerm , Jul 13 '00
Pros: It's laid back and relaxing. There is plenty to do and most things are prepaid so you don't have to worry about prices.
Cons: You may experience sea sickness. Also, there's a lot of tipping and there is the cost of side excursions.
Do you want to have fun? Lots and lots of fun? I mean real fun? Then do yourself a favor and take a cruise. I have spent years travelling and there isn't any form of travel which is as relaxing and fun as a cruise. I travelled Holland America which...

The beautiful and elegant Statendam

by cruisejunkie , Feb 05 '08
Pros: Great food, friendly, efficient, attentive staff, clean and tidy ship.
Cons: The singers were a bit ordinary. I was not impressed with them at all.
The Statendam is one of Holland America's smaller ships. Be that as it may, it was run wonderfully by the captain, Frans Consen, and the food was quite good. I am sure it is not easy to prepare such delectable delights when the ship is at times at sea ...
