Pros: Marriott program quality overall Cons: First USA craftiness
Marriott's reputation for service and tending to what they call the "back of the house" sometimes suffers with their credit card partners (the earlier First Card program had its own frustrations). First USA doesn't have a great reputation for...
Pros: Marriott Points are of value.. Use at Fairfield Inns, Courtyard, etc. Cons: Points don't spend as well as cash!
I've always paid my credit card bills in full each month. So years ago, I learned the value of getting a 'reward' with my card. I had a bunch of them :
GM's rebate (dumb...I never bought a new GM car), Apple (sorry it died),
Marriott,...
Pros: World-wide selection of hotels as well as a flight miles program Cons: Annual fee after the first year
The Marriott Rewards Visa Card is a run of the mill credit card little to no different from any other with the exception to its association with Marriott Hotel chain. It has an interest rate somewhat higher than discount rate cards so that like any...
This card, with a $30 annual fee, after the first year, allows you to earn points for your Marriott Rewards account. This is great, but I got rid of the card, and got a Diner's Club, after finding that First USA gives you a "varying" 20-25 day...
Good Card for Travel Rewards by dkmidwest ,Jun 05 '04
Pros: Large hotel chain with several brand; lower reward levels available. Cons: Annual fee after the first year.
While the credit card isn't all that different from other cards in its mechanics, the rewards are pretty good for the no/low annual fee. Even if you don't rack up tons of points for free nights by the time you want to travel, you can still benefit by using earned points for hotel & dining discounts. Marriott also has several hotel brands, such as Fairfield Inn and Courtyard given you a wide selection of hotels to use reward points. If you enjoy staying at Marriott, this is the card to have. The annual fee is low and there is no fee for the first year.
Pros: Get Rewards Cons: You have better cards and better customer service
The cards has $30 annual fee and once you get on your statement you won't have possibility to remove it by cancelling the card. When I called their customer service to cancel the card, they were able to convince me that I can hold on to card and can give them call after the first annual fee is put on my card.
Also, I think there are better cards available in market that doesn't have any annual fees like citi dividend etc.
