Pros: None. Cons: Random charges, expensive, lousy usability, etc, etc.
I got an Amex card to help a friend who was going to be in another state on business for a while. Our arrangements were satisfactory and no trouble.
The trouble was caused by the company. First, they cut the card off with no explanation,...

Pros: No set spending limit, AMEX rewards program. Cons: Annual fee, somewhat limited acceptance at retailers all AMEX cards are tied together.
Well I never thought I would pay for the privilage to charge but American express offers benefit no other card has. Why would I like a card that charges $55.00 per year to carry in my wallet or forces me to pay it off every month? Let me tell you the...

Pros: Excellent Customer Service, the account must be paid in full each month, excellent programs, and there when you need them 24 hours a day. Cons: Some people may not like the annual fee, they are not accepted at as many places as other cards.
I have had an American Express card for almost 20 years. I have been a few places that wouldn't accept AMEX, but more and more places are accepting it (even K-Mart). I like the fact that it must be paid in full each month, which keeps me from...

Pros: Controls charging because of the 30 day payment cycle Cons: Cannot carry a balance, and the membership fee seems too high to be competitive with other major cards
I have had my Amex card since November of 1998. Like other reviewers, I got it because it keeps over charging in check.
Since then, I have found that their customer service is much more responsive than say First USA/Visa or MasterCard, or...

Pros: None Cons: Annual fee, limited merchant participation, a poor rewards program
In this review, I am going to attempt to show that the acclaimed attributes of this card do nothing more than fool people into thinking they are doing something good for themselves.
First, I would like to get into the obvious negatives...

Pros: Forces you to pay monthly Cons: $50.00/year. Not as widely accepted
Anyone who pays for an AMEX credit card these days is absurd. Especially, if you carry another credit card and do not carry a balance on it either. There are hundreds of card companies out there that are willing to give their card away for free. At...

Pros: Stellar Customer Service Cons: Annual Fee
I have been an AMEX cardholder for more years than I would like to admit. I have never upgraded from the good old little green card. I don't want/need to. It's true that AMEX did once carry a kind of status, and still does to some extent, but that's...

Pros: Good service, stand behind you Cons: Annual fee
AMEX GREEN CARD
AMEX in my opinion is the best credit card company out there. No pre-set limits, no interest, and a worldwide network make AMEX stand out. Granted that they are not accepted as much as other cards but its benefits are much...

Pros: Excellent service, no annual fee and a dual-use card for Costco members Cons: none for me
Aloha! First off, I wanted to say that this special card is offered to Costco members. I opted for the American Express Green Corporate card because I wanted to establish credit for my business, a small tutoring company.
The card is great and...

Pros: No monthly charges. No spending limit.
No revolving debt. Cons: have to pay off monthly
I have been a user for so many years now. And I have to say that it is a great card. There was a month that I was going through some hard times and had completely forgotten to pay for one month and I talked to the service rep and related by credit...

Pros: First on many of the services that are now standard Cons: Yup, an annual fee!
There are a few reasons I started with AMEX. The first is that they were the first to offer any credit to me. When I was in (oh, no! not another one of THOSE stories) college, before the time of rabid credit offerings, AMEX was willing to give me a...

Pros: Commendable customer service, rewards program Cons: the $55 fee
I got my Amex when I was in college; it was the first credit card that was offered to me. They gave me their trust, and in return I give them my loyalty.
In the 6 years I have it in my wallet, I have been VERY pleased with this card. The...

Pros: Points, Great Online and Customer Service Cons: Fees
I got my American Express card this past August, I know that is not a long time by most standards, but so far I have had an excellent experience, but so far I have found my choice to get an Amex was a great decision.
*PROS* If you enroll in...

Pros: Super card with lots of benefits; Taking actions to decrease trumped up charge backs or fraudulent charges; No preset spending limit; great treatment depending on kind of cards Cons: Money talks; Preferential treatments based on whether you have standard, gold, platinum etc.

Pros: There simply are none Cons: Unpredictability of spending limits (whether AMEX admits there is a limit or not)
Unlike a lot of people, I got this card fully understanding it wasn't a credit card but was instead a card that you had to pay in full each month. For me, I wanted it simply as a tool to manage and track my spending, and to pay my other bills with. I ...
