Pros: A Good Engineering Education Cons: Very Expensive
I just want to warn you that this is a long review. My goal is to cover as many details as I can. However only being an undergrad I will primarily focus on that end of the spectrum.
Pros: MQps, enough hands-on experience, in general good funding in engineering departments, especially Mechanical Cons: MBA department needs more features like compulsory internship for full time students, more aid, more electives.
I have done my MBA from WPI. Yes, WPI has an MBA program :) -- a little known fact!
My personal experience
In 1995 I had recently come to USA from India, and wasn't very familiar with the school systems here. Since I was living in...
Pros: Location, atmosphere, academics, financial aid Cons: Tuition
There were several colleges I applied to when I was a senior in high school, but WPI was my number one choice. The admissions office and financial aid office bent over backwards to help me attend classes there in the fall of 1991. Four year later,...
Pros: Student hard work ethic, good EE, ME, and BC programs. Cons: Male hostility toward ratio, weak majors and bad administration.
In the four years I've attended WPI, the school has gone downhill. It began as a middle-class engineering school and now wishes to be more like MIT. Since WPI lacks academic research, grants, and hard working professors, the school seeks to attain...
Pros: Professor availability, engineering, computer science, 7 week terms, campus size Cons: Hills on campus, math department, labs, high male/female ratio
Although I have no other schools to which to compare it, I have attended WPI for about a year, and would have to rate it as a very good school.
Although WPI is located in the second largest city in New England, it's a very quiet, secluded and...
Pros: Instills a strong work ethic (i.e. you work like a dog) Cons: No diversity or campus unity
I entered WPI with high hopes and starry eyes, poised for a successful, glittering future; I left unsatisfied, unfulfilled, and unhappy. Now, a year after my graduation, I finally speak my mind.
Pros: Focused, Small Student Body Cons: In Worcester, Not much variety
Worcester Polytechnic Institute is a tech school located, not surprisingly in Worcester, MA. This is its major drawback. But, there are a number of positive aspects to attending WPI.
First of all, WPI has a much smaller student body than many tech...
