Pros: Very affordable Luxury car!! Cons: Some repairs can be expensive
I bought my first BMW, a 1986 528e in December of 1999. I bought it because my parents had 3 other BMW cars and a motorcycle so I had grown up with them and loved them to death. To me, BMW isn't so much a company or car, it's a state of mind. This car...

Pros: You can feel the quality, fast, 25mpg highway Cons: A new exhaust will cost $850
When I was a teenager, I would sit up in bed and read car magazines all the time. The guys who wrote these articles had a way of putting you in the driver's seat with their words.
One of my favorites was the BMW 535I. I had great dreams that night...

Pros: Durable, Economical, Comfy, Quiet, Classy, Safe. Cons: Parts are sometimes a little pricey. Need a good mechanic with BMW experience. The Bottom Line: If you're looking for an inexpensive used car, it's better to buy quality older than new junk.
This is a great car. I've driven a lot of the older BMW's and this one seems to have a lot on the maintenance issues solved, I bought it used form my mother in law, they are terrible cheapskates or maybe just their service guy is useless but ...

Pros: Classic syling, reliability, plentiful parts, infrequent service, comfortable, full size for eco price range Cons: OEM restoration expensive (as any other German auto) but quality is worth it
My 1986 BMW 528e has been nothing but reliable for me. I got a good deal ($1300) now it has 190,000 miles and its still going strong. Granted I got a good deal on a 2 owner local car from a friend, luckily its been well maintained and has good records of maitnance. I have only replaced the exhaust (aftermarket universal for $90) dont get ripped off like other eopinion users have because parts like that are easily replaceable. My wipers went out, a $50 relay solved the problem. Call Bavarian auto for fair deals on parts and service advice (bavauto.com) parts are plentiful new and used. A great ride, good steering, brakes, cruising speed is 80mph, MPG=25 , not the fastest accelerator with this kind of mileage but it goes and gos. I do 300 mile long trips 8 times per year and it never hiccups. just change the oil and keep it up. A great car, nicely engineered with good german craftsmanship. BMW second to none, even 20 years later.
