Pros: Excellent build quality, features, USB, up to 1080p over HDMI, DivX, MP3/WMA, performance Cons: Not the cheapest, but worth every cent
After trying out the Philips DVP5982 and 5960, I got the Pioneer DV-400V. The Philips was less expensive, but it has usability shortcomings and some DivX files were stuttering on it. The Pioneer is not a silver bullet, but it is much better in some ...
Pros: Looks Good, USB Port, HDMI, Easy to use Remote Cons: Poor sound quality, Faulty HDMI, Poor DIVX quality.
I bought the Pioneer DV 400 after I read the very comprehensive and informative review above, however my experience was different. I just bought a new 2MP Samsung M8 and wanted a player that would upscale to 1080p. Before I bought the Pioneer, I was ...
Pros: 1080p upconversion and durable Cons: None, perhaps a little pricey (but quality costs as does upconversion)
The Pioneer 400DV is a great DVD player with 1080p and 1080i upconversion, making regular DVD movies play in near high definition quality - near HD but not completely HD quality.
Bad Experience with USB on Pioneer DV-400V by mikehoge ,Apr 18 '08
Pros: -avi files are crystal clear
-price
-HDMI output on cheap unit Cons: -can't manually skip jpegs
-hangs when MP3 and jpeg at same time
-no MPEG1
I bought this unit from Walmart Canada for $89.00. I was please with the HDMI, S-video and component cable outputs on such a low priced unit. The problem is with viewing images or videos from the USB port. When viewing JPEGs you cannot skip forward or backwards you have to use the slide show (very annoying) even though the manual says you should be able to use the fast forward or rewind keys to do so. Also if I play and MP3 at the same time as the slide show, it freezes and only shows half of the first picture displayed. It alsp does not play the MPEG1 videos I take with my Sony Cybershot. Another issue is when displaying a list of files on the USB key it only show the first 10 or so characters so when I have five episodes of a TV series I only see MytherbustersS.... and I have to guess what episode I'm selecting (full name like MytherbustersS01E01). I need to rename everything. The playback of normal 480 avi files is great and crystal clear.
