bgoodday's Full Review: Tone's Spices (Spice Advice) Taco Seasoning Tradit...
We are very involved with the youth in our state because we want all kids to have the best opportunities that life can give them. We host weekend getaways for the kids and they can spend time getting to know other kids from all over the state. There are about 30 adults chaperoning 50 kids on the weekend but it is a nice way for them to learn of their talents and ways to use them the best.
Feeding that many kids can be a nightmare but we made things easier by doing different bars on the last weekend. One of them was a taco bar and the meat was cooked and a bottle of Tone's Taco Seasoning was added for a quick and simple meal. The rest of the meal consisted of opening bags and putting things in bowls.
The Tone's Taco Seasoning was purchased at a local bulk warehouse for $3.36 a container. The seasoning comes in a clear plastic container that is 7" tall, 3 1/2" deep and 2 1/4" wide. It has a large white label's on the front and back and at the top of the labels is a red border with Tone's since 1873 white and gold lettering. The front label has a picture of a bowl with onions and peppers in it and off to the side of the bowl is some crushed red pepper in a pile. The label on the back of the container has all the nutritional information. There is a gray lid on top of the container that has two flip tops on it. One side is for a measuring spoon to insert into and the other side is for the shaker. This container has less than 2% silicon dioxide to prevent the paprika from caking in the holes.
Each servings of Tone's Taco Seasoning is two teaspoons and there are about 92 servings per container. There are 20 calories per serving, no fat or cholesterol but it does have 4 grams of carbohydrates, 460 milligrams of sodium, 1 gram of protein, 20 % vitamin A and 4% iron. These values are based on a 2,000 calorie a day diet.
The ingredients you will find in every container of Tone's Taco Seasoning are chili pepper and other spices, wheat flour, salt, dextrose, maltodextrin, onion powder, garlic powder, disodium inosinate, extractive of paprika (as color), spice extractives and onion extractives. The blend of spices that Tone's has created is very pleasing to the palette.
One of the things that I like about using Tone's Taco Seasoning for large crowds is that it has enough spice so those who like lots of flavor are satisfied but they skip putting in the hotter seasonings that would otherwise deter some people from eating it. You definitely get the best of both worlds with this seasoning.
You can use Tone's Taco Seasoning in variety of dishes such as burritos, tacos, taco salad and chicmichanga's.You can also use it to make taco dip. Just add three tablespoons taco seasoning to a 16 ounce container of sour cream and tada you have yourself a quick and delicious dip. If you are out shopping and see a container pick it up because you won't be disappointed.
