speak2erin's Full Review: Pampers Cruisers Size 4 22 37lbs
My mom got me hooked on Pampers. When I was at the hospital with my first son, they gave us Huggies. And what did I know, it was my first real experience with diapers and they seemed fine. My husband was highly suspicious when my mother bought us Pampers. But we both soon agreed that they were superior (seemingly) in comfort. It seemed softer, more pliable, when wet. So fast forward to 27 months later - my oldest is potty trained (woo) but my 7 month old has been mostly a Pampers baby. Sure, we have to cut corners every now and then, and I try out generics or Huggies, but I always return to Pampers Cruisers.
THE USER
Now, I wanted to provide an accurate review of Pampers Cruisers, size 4, so I took some measurements a month ago when my baby was 6 months old. He's a BIG baby. At 6 months he was just over 20 pounds and 30 inches. His thighs have a 14 inch circumference. He has nice, round, chubby baby legs.
THE DIAPER
A box of 100 count Pampers Cruisers has two packages of Pampers inside, sealed in clear plastic. Pampers Cruisers comes with four designs per box, using the characters Elmo, Ernie and Cookie Monster. Poor Bert must feel left out. They have a pastel purple color to them. The back of the diaper is not stretchy. The legs are stretchy, going from 6 to 10 inches. The length of the diaper is 8.25 inches. The front waist and back are 7 inches long. The diaper is suggested for babies ranging in 22 - 37 pounds. But if your baby is around 20 pounds and is peeing out of size 3, I recommend moving up a size. The tabs on the Pampers have a "go baby grip for non stop fit". It's true, you can pretty much attach the tabs anywhere, so it can fit a slim or heavy baby. When my oldest was in size 5 at 12 months I had to leave the Pampers loose since he was so chubby. When he was 17 months he was much slimmer, but I kept buying Pampers and just tabbed them further together. Finally, the shape of the diaper is contoured, coming in at the legs.
THE VERDICT
I've bought regular Huggies, Huggies Supreme Fit and plenty of Generics. The regular Huggies and Generics get tough and hard when wet and do not seem comfortable. The regular Huggies also explodes a non-toxic, absorbing gel. Eww. The Supreme Fit Huggies also explodes this non toxic, absorbing gel, but they do not get as tough as the regular Huggies and Generics. But they are not as pliable and seemingly as comfortable as the Pampers Cruisers. Plus, they do not wick away as much moisture as Pampers Cruisers. Pampers Cruisers leaves my baby DRY. It locks in moisture. It can be used overnight. And it is soft, even when wet. The elastic legs accomodate chubby baby legs. And the contoured fit makes it easy for my baby to kick and crawl. If you can afford the high price, definitely choose Pampers.
