First of all I would like to thank you for reading my opinions. Ok well to start off we really didn't buy these tires on purpose. My Mom recently purchased a 2000 323iT and these are standard equipment on that model. Now when i first realized this i was a bit skeptical mainly because i was expecting Michelin tires and i hadn't heard much of Continental. The reason i was hoping for Michelin tires was because previous to this BMW we had a 1995 526i sedan and it had Michelin MXV4's on it and those tires were amazing in performance. Now that I have had the experience of Continentals tires all of my skepticism is gone and I am glad BMW had the insight to make these performance tires standard on this car.
* Specs
Our car came equipped with the 205/55R16 Continental ContiTouring Contact CH95's. These tires are H speed rated to 130mph which is a speed any of us here in the US would be lucky to ever reach. These tires feature a new compound technology from continental that helps lower rolling resistance and improve wet & snow traction. Also they feature triradial tread contour which provides better wear,greater resistance to hydroplaning and less roadnoise. These tires also have an A Traction rating,A 360 Treadwear rating as well as an A Temperature rating Among other great things about these tires is the fact that they have a 60,000 mile treadlife warranty and a 12-month free replacement road hazard warranty.
* Overall Ride
Now we all know that BMW's are known for their exceptional quality,handling,responsiveness and overall control. Now BMW definitely found the right tire here. These tires always manage to soak up the impact from Expansion joints, Potholes, Center Line Markers and any small imperfections you might encounter while driving. These tires are made of a somewhat soft compound which provides excellent handling on all surfaces they are always there to provide ample grip when cornering or when accelerating from a stop light. I have taken hairpins at almost 60 mph and have yet to hear these tires squeal even once and I contribute this to the softer compound that they consist of. Also they unlike some sports tires these generate very little road noise. When driving on highway you can just float along in perfect silence and the on curvy country roads you can dive into curves and make even fearless passengers grab for the "oh my God" handles with complete confidence that your car will go where you point it and no where else. These tires as far as traction goes are amazing. Not only under "ideal" driving conditions but also under rainy conditions. I have driven with and without traction control and I have yet to get these to break traction and our car is very powerful. Also you can brake in rainy conditions and not be scared of hydroplaning the only thing you have to be careful of is the guy behind you rear ending you because you can stop and he couldn't because he doesn't have tires as wonderfully designed as yours.
* Overall Satisfaction
Despite my early skepticism of these tires which has since shown to be unwarranted I truly do believe these are some of the best tires currently available on the market due to their high quality compound and German design. I believe anyone who makes the wise decision of purchasing these tires will not be disappointed and will enjoy thousands of miles of pure,fun,exhilarating and SAFE driving..And isn't that what driving is all about? :) As always thank you for reading my opinions and any comments or input is welcome..DYQ685
