Review of Continental Touring CH95 (July 18, 2000)
About two years ago, my wife and I were returning home from a vacation at the Jersey Shore, when we had a blow out. This seemed strange to me because my tires were in good shape before we left, so I contributed the cause of the blowout to running over a nail or something. After a tire change, about five miles down the road another tire went flat, and we figured this was due to sabotage!
Not having another spare tire, we were at the mercy of our tow truck operator, who kindly led us to a nearby gas station. The station had a good selection of tires for sale, and he recommended the Continental Touring Tires (besides, they were the only tires he had in stock that would fit my truck). I normally buy Bridgestone Tires, but under the circumstances, I went along with his suggestion, and bought two of them. The tires cost approximately $75 each, which includes mounting and balancing.
I have a Ford Ranger pickup truck with automatic transmission and 4-wheel drive. I use my truck primarily for light hauling and drive only on paved surfaces. I put on approximately 25 K miles per year. The tires are mounted on the rear wheels.
The tires are basically rated for all surface types, and temperature grades - a very standard tire. Not being a tire expert, I can only tell you that after two years and some 50 K miles, I have not had any problems with the tires, and they still look new. I rarely skid on them, and they are terrific in the snow and rain.
I would highly recommend these tires. They do a good job and hold up well. They are just as good as the Bridgestone tires, and I may even replace my front two tires with two new Continental tires. Drive safely and have a nice day!
