Don't buy anything from Swatch online unless you want the used watches! by jzephyr ,May 18 '04
I have ordered a watch from Swatch online store,
and later when I got it, I realized that I didn't like that watch.
I went to the Swatch store in Beverly center, CA to exchange it with other, and had very bad experience with the people working there.
I didn't even remove the watch from the plastic case,
but they kept accusing me of wearing it for about 2 weeks between I received it and when I went to the store.
They were saying that the band was not straight as it is supposed to be or something rubbish.
I am pretty sure that the Swatch online store sent me the watch that had been returned. Otherwise, why is the band not straight when I didn't even touch it?
They finally said I can exchange it, but I don't ever want to buy anything from that store ever again.
My slim watch started developing a crack after 6 months of use. Customer service in New Jersey said it was not covered, because it is the "crystal", a wear and tear item. The warranty, they say, is only for the time mechanisms.
I told them the hairline crack came from the watch bending and the plastic probably being too stiff (yes, I know a bit about acrylics). A design or manufacturing problem in my opinion.
No, I did not hit the watch with a hammer or anything, just regular use like any other watch.
They refuse to do anything. Their warranty sucks. They should spend less money on slick marketing and more on providing proper service to their customers. Beware before spending $100 for a slim watch...
