Pros: WiFi, Bluetooth, CF and SD, build quality, Incredible display, Fast cpu Cons: Some PocketPC Software not optimized for VGA displays
The HP iPAQ hx4700 Series Pocket PC is HP's top of the line Pocket PC. The hx4700/hx4705 PocketPC lists for $649, with the different model numbers designating identical products being distributed through different channels. (I'll use the 4700 ...
Pros: Easy to use, Wifi, Bluetooth, CF and SD slots, sturdy, feature-rich Cons: No gaming buttons per se, touchpad may not be for some
NOTE: This review is from the perspective of a Palm owner owning his first pocket PC, so some features I mention may be OS related. A friend turned me on to this PDA. I was initially going to buy a refurbished Sony CLIE PEG-NZ90, but I saw the light ...
Pros: Screen is beautiful, wireless, expansion storage slots, usability. Cons: Needs more memory for the price, VPN implementation is weak.
I have to honestly say that I have *never* been much of a handhelds person. I owned one of the first Visor Handsprings, which were nice for their time and seemed like something I would be able to leverage in my daily life as a disorganized person. ...
Pros: Awesome VGA screen, great Companion CD full of useful software, landscape orientation, sleek design. Cons: No WMP 10, price, 64MB RAM, older software may not be compatible
I picked up the hx4705 at CompUSA 2 weeks ago. It seems that Best Buy, Staples and many others have scaled back considerably the PDAs that they now offer. Once I got it home and powered the battery up, I was blown away by the impressive VGA display! ...
Pros: Outstanding display and functionality Cons: None
This is my first PDA. I know that I'm spoiled by this device, but it is missing one thing that sometimes I wish that I had, and sometimes that I'm glad that I don't have. To start, as can be seen in the reviews, this device has about everything. ...
Pros: The best investment you will ever make Cons: active memory management needed (can't keep opening programs). Frequent reboots (no problem)
I've owned this for nearly 2.5 years and it still makes people drool. It does everything you can want it to do, and with TWO memory expansion slots, you can ramp up the memory to >6GB or more for relatively little. I use it as a ultra-portable alternative to my laptop, to read the news, to read e-books, to listen to hours of music, to stream wifi video / webcams, to surf the internet (either portrait or landscape), record my kids singing, watch my ripped DVDs on flights, entertain kids when travelling, show family photos, and even show powerpoints to clients. Its great. Plus, with a headset or bluetooth earpiece, this can be a SKYPE or Netphone in any wifi location. I often use it to IM (Yahoo, AIM) when travelling. Also does POP3 email. Its so simply amazing.

Pros: fast processor, wi-fi, bluetooth, MS Excel & Word, business contact management highly flexible. Cons: touch pad (can be minimized by switching to L or R landscape mode)
I've only had this a week, but I am really impressed. I have read some negative reviews about this pc, but I can only find agreement on the problems caused by the touchpad (which can be overcome rather easy). I bet HP builds in a software upgrade in the near future that will disable this pad if the user desires.
I was skeptical that this many features could be packed into such a small box without major problems, but HP did it rather well and it is a solid build. Power management is not really an issue if you select the automatic shutdown or backlight off when idle for a selectable time period.
I use Excel quite a bit and was surprised that it displays complex spreadsheets perfectly. I don't recommend trying to *create* anything complex on the pc, but it is capable of displaying and running just about anything you can throw at it and store in memory (I had a 256MB CF card inserted).
Great PDA, tech support lacks by acerracer ,Feb 14 '05
Pros: P O W E R F U L (L) Cons: Poor Tech Support
Very functional. Very capable. HP Tech Support lacks though. VPN is an issue that they are reluctant to discuss - at least that's what happened with my 3 calls. Have had minor issues with unit locking up requiring soft reset. Overall, I definitely like it better than other PDAs I've had - I almost like it better than my 8# laptop!

Beware the HP support, in the long run you are doomed to be left behind by mlivneh ,Jul 09 '06
Pros: Glitzy at first look, but nothing beyond that. Do not be tempted. Cons: Dreadful support. Downwards compatibility is not in the HP's dictionary
Bought a 5450 3 years ago, can't get support.
Don't be tempted by the glitzy device that comes out of the box, you are doomed to be abandoned once a new device is out. HP does not take captives.
Pros: HP services too poor to rate Cons: HP customer service worst of the industry
HP sent me an empty box! Then.....refused to send a refund or a replacement for the missing product. It's my hard earned money deployed overseas with the military that they collected without providing any product; I spent more than 4 hours on the phone with their customer support department, supervisors, etc. with no results. Apparently their policies and systems don't adapt to these customer complaints. Be forewarned!!!! Sell your stocks and stay away from HP and they are going downhill!
