Battlefield 2: Desert Combat is no longer just a "mod"

by Gr8ful Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 100, Jun 30 '05
Pros: Great graphics, awesome surround sound, familiar game play.
Cons: Re-learning how to fly ;-)
Battlefield 2 is the sequel to Battlefield 1942 and is strikingly familiar to the Desert Combat mod for BF1942. The game is played almost exactly the same as Desert Combat with a few differences. In this review I will try to point out the differences ...

Battlefield 2 for Windows PC is good, but not as good as BF1942

by phungus, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, Aug 20 '05
Pros: Great graphics, online point system
Cons: Getting pounded by artillery, lack of tanks
I’ve been looking forward to playing Battlefield 2 for a very long time, especially since I am such a huge fan of its predecessor, Battlefield 1942. I also enjoyed Battlefield Vietnam, but it wasn’t quite as good as BF1942. In short, ...

An excellent game with a funky user interface.

by lothen , Jul 10 '05
Pros: Arcade Like war that sacrifices nothing for fun.
Cons: Horrible UI, laggy 64 player ranked servers
Battlefield 2 is flat out entertaining… once you actually find a decent server and get past its horrible user interface issues. Battlefield 2 is an arcadey modern warfare game set in the near future where the United States, China, and the fictional ...

Great Game, Well Worth Money

by bgolds99 , Apr 17 '08
Pros: Great Graphics, Great game play, Awesome frames per second
Cons: You will need a high end PC to play it on high settings
The technically 3rd PC game in the Battlefield series, Battlefield 2 offers a 64 player modern battlefield. Use tanks, airplanes, helicopters or even humvees to trample your enemy. You can choose to play for 3 different nations, the United States, the ...

by danvanvleet , Nov 16 '05
Pros: Great Graphics, online ranking, helicopters, maps.
Cons: Can be laggy if you're not on a good connection.
I first played this game in a lan cafe in Rotterdam. It was so much fun playing against real people sitting in the same room as you. This new battlefield is so different from the first, and SO much better. I'll start on the graphics. The graphics of ...

Battlefield 2

by tigerrei , Dec 28 '06
Pros: Detailed, engaging, and fast-paced
Cons: Unfair vehicle to infantry balance, server browser, support.
An improvement over it's predecessor, Battlefield 1942. Battlefield 2 brings you the latest graphics and gameplay from EA. The gameplay takes some getting used to, if you are not already a fan of the Battlefield series. It's easy to get lost in a vast ...

EA's Biggest Lemon

by wiedzmin , Aug 16 '05
Pros: Great graphics and environment interaction, innovative game-play.
Cons: Numerous bugs, irresponsive account servers, total lack of support.
Being a big fan of Desert Combat mod for Battlefield 1942 I have tried the Battlefield 2 Demo the day it was released. It was all I expected and even more. However the old glitches with "laggy" and "sticky" server search screen still remained in this ...

Great Game
by brodieboy255 ,Jan 04 '07
Pros: Great gameplay, graphics and unlocks
Cons: Crashes/freezes sometimes, stupid bots, lots of downloading patches
The gameplay is simple, a basic capture points. With features such as artillery, squads, a unique communication system, and many kits and unlocks, Battlefield 2 is well above many other FPSs

Although there is a single-player mode with bots (who are incredibly dim-witted), this game was built to be played online, with a global points system and unlockable weapons. New patches are released often, to fix any issues in gameplay

Battlefield 2 also currently has 3 expansion packs: Special forces (available as CD/DVD), European Assault & Armoured Fury (Both downloadable from EA). These include more maps and unlocks.

Nice but 1942 is better
by pilotsteve ,Nov 01 '06
Pros: I dont really see any
Cons: There was a reason 1942 was game of the year.
Battlefield 2 nearly REQUIRES a high speed internet connection. Without this many weapons are not availible. They don't tell you that on the box cover.
