Pros: Great graphics, decent gameplay, excellent 2-player mode, lots of weapons and unlockables Cons: Unadjustable high difficulty, Chronicles of the Sword, World Championship, half-baked story
Before I dive on into the meat of this review please allow me to first thank my friend, Dan, for allowing the use of the title for this review. I, after a long spell of not reviewing or doing much of anything, have chosen the ever-popular Soul Calibur 3 ...
Pros: Easy to learn
Create-a-character
Tons of play modes
Great English Voices Cons: Japanese Voices fall short
Increased difficulty
Soul Calibur is a decade old series that started in 1995 under the title Soul Edge. The series focuses on weapon based combat and requires players to consider not only range of attack, but also keeping balance. This has always integrated rather well ...
Pros: TONS of gameplay moes, TONS of unlockables, GREAT music, SUPERB graphics. Cons: Like all fighters, it can become repetitive.
I have been a fan of the Soul Calibur series of games sense Soul Calibur 1 came out on the Dreamcast many years ago. Unfortunately I missed SoulBlade in its days so I recently picked that up and played it and had fun. Anyway, Soul Calibur 1 is one of ...
Pros: Great graphics and gameplay, lots of options to keep the game fresh Cons: none
I recently borrowed this game from the library. Yes Boys and girls some libraries are now loaning out video games (what took them so long to come up with that idea) to get young people to come to the library more. Well being a busy adult I did not get to ...
Pros: New characters, new features and new gameplay modes. Cons: No online play, reported file corruption in the Chronicles mode and console exclusive.
Soul Calibur III builds nicely onto the series with the exception of no online play. Contrary to the previous chapter, part 3 of the saga was an exclusive to the Playstation 2. Soul Calibur 3 introduces a handful of new characters, such as Zasalamel ...
Pros: Create a Soul Mode
Great cast of characters to choose from Cons: Chronicle of the Soul corrupts when something is deleted from memory card
Soul Calibur III is an amazing game. The new features added such as the Create a Soul and Chronicle of the Sword were just absolutely great. For the first time ever in a Soul Calibur game we are able to create our own characters with hundreds of ...
Pros: New characters, create-a-character, alot of content Cons: Chronicles wasn't worth playing, should have been a seperate game by itself.
As a player whose been playing this series since Soul Blade I must say the Soul series is my most favorite 3D fighting game ever. When SCII was release there was a major buzz going around about this game and it was an amazing improvement to its previous ...
Pros: Great characters, beautiful design, fast smooth fighting system, interesting stories, sadistic weapons, create a fighter Cons: chronicles un-adjustable difficulty level, loading time between fights
I was first introduced to these games when I played the awe inspiring Soul Edge arcade. I never played the first PS release of this series but came back when part 2 emerged. I was hooked; the story of good and evil, power and peace and revenge and ...
Pros: Great graphics, game play, & sounds..it's still a lot of fun! Cons: No on-line arena, and character balance is awful.
I have been playing Soul Calibur for 10 years now and
It's true....Soul Calibur continues to one of the greatest fighting games ever designed. The Graphics are top notch, the game play is smooth and the sound/music effects are quite stellar. However the game suffers from not having an on-line arena for players to challenge each other, thee create a character mode is weak. In fact they should have learned something from the MK people. Lastly although it's wonderful, the lack of character balance is absolutely awful and needs badly to go back to the drawing board. I believe all character should be balanced as to promote fair and better game play. Aside from that it's still one of the best fighting games out there.
Pros: Good Graphics
New Content Cons: No Custom characters on World Championship mode
Soul Calibur 3 is AWSOME! There are 3 new characters (Zasalamel, setsuka and Tira) as well as updates to older Characters from SC 1 and SC 2. There are different modes you can play in as well. In solo mode you can do either Tales of the Souls or Chronicals of the Swords to unlock extra items and features and for the first time you can create your own CUSTOM character. To do this you complete different story lines within either Tales or Chronicals. There is also a different version of the vs. called world championship in which either one or 2 players can play against the computer to see who is the best. You can not use any created characters on this mode though. Definate upgrade on the graphics from the last Soul Calibur. This is a must if you liked the original Soul Calibur and Soul Caliber 2
