Pros: Crisp photo prints, many options and features, easy to use. Cons: Loud, can take a minute to warm up, CD tray can be tricky .
I got this printer over a year ago to replace our 10 year old HP printer. We dont buy often so I wanted to make sure I was getting a printer that had all the features we would want and need now and in the future. This is it! I never had a scanner ...
Pros: Descent Colors on photos, lots of settings and comes with memory stick reader. Cons: Noisy start up, Noisy printing, and Shaky too! Wont Scan 3D Objects.
First off, it is great that it works with my Mac. Others on the market only state that they work on Windows based systems. I had an issue with it printing my pictures crooked on the paper when I first went to use it, even with the help, hints and ...
I recently took a look at the new RX580, a sub-$200 printer that offers the new Claria version of Epson's ink. It's supposed to be better and longer lasting than normal inks. The out of box experience was good. Like my other Epson (Rx-770) this one ...
Pros: Great pictures, easy to use, smooth scanning! Man, I could go on for a while. Cons: Nothing major. Maybe a few minor ones.
My wife and I bought this mainly to print on DVDs/CDs, but we have discovered that this can do so much more! This is really an impressive product. Here is what we have tried so far. 1. Printing on DVDs/CDs--outstanding quality and the ink dries ...
Pros: Lots of bells, whistles and gongs on this Epson all-in-one Cons: Noisy paper handling, same old dull Epson ink compared to HP
First One Hour Impression: More extra icing on the cake for the RX580 compared to my now permanently clogged older Epson AIO and permanently paper jammed other older Epson AIO. I don't care about the bells, whistles and gongs on this AIO, I do care about ...
Pros: None that I can see. Oh yeah, I guess it prints black well. Cons: This site doesn't have the space to express all of my disapointments.
I started to use this for some high quality color prints only to find the color was terrible. Reds were brown and everything had a heavy downcast to it. I contacted Epson support and they gave me the run around, about buying ONLY Epson branded paper, ...
Pros: Customer support is very helpful and want you to be satisfied. Print quality is great! Cons: High cost of ink and what is listed in the body.
I really can't say too much other than I had to return it because I was happy with it. I had called pre-sales to see how many dvds I could expect to be able to print as that would be my main focus. He told me quite a lot, so I expected a very minimum of ...
Cannot Use Anything, including Scanner when any Ink Out by jpconsi ,May 11 '08
Pros: Makes good photos. Cons: The ink is super expensive, last a short time
When any of the 6 ink cartiages are out. One would think that having the black ink cartiage with ink would allow the printer, copier and scanner to continue to work but it does not. Nothing works once any of the ink cartiages is out. In addition, I purchase new ink cartiages from an authorized Epson dealer and after replacing one the ink cartiages, the printer says it does not recognize the caritage. The printer is unusable until that can be corrected.
A great all-in-one and amazing prints! by losal ,Dec 11 '06
Pros: Vibrant prints! Cons: None!
This is the fastest and quietest printer I've ever experienced. Its photo printing capability is much better than I ever expected. I would recommend it for printing your holiday photos and CDs.
Pros: Claria ink quality, PC free functionality, CD/DVD printing Cons: Outrageous color ink consumption while printing black-only documents
I really wanted to like this printer. The standalone functionality is really remarkable for the price. Claria inks produce very nice photo output. I also like the ability to print on CD/DVD media (although the CD/DVD tray must be "jiggled" some to insert). I will be returning mine, however, because of excessive and inappropriate ink consumption.
During a period in which I printed only black CD/DVD labels, I watched color levels drop as fast as the black. All the color ink levels went from over 75% to less than 50% during this period. This is exactly the same as the amount of black ink consumption. Epson tech support said this was "normal housekeeping".
It does not seem reasonable to use $16 worth of color ink in housekeeping while printing documents containing $5 worth of black ink (based on consumption of 25% of cartridge contents and Epson cartridge pricing).
Don't buy this if you think seperate ink catridges mean you can conserve on consumables by selective use of color.
Won't take 3rd party ink by mark_ft_laud ,Dec 19 '07
Pros: Economical printer, great quality for most, cd/dvd printing Cons: 3rd party ink may not work with it
I do video editing and use this printer to print the covers and discs.
It is a good printer. I am happy with the quality of prints and scans.
(i don't print photos for framing . . . i send that to photo labs at .13 per - how can you beat it?)
Buyer Beware
After buying a boat load of 3rd party ink which i have used with my R200 for years, i find that the printer will not recognize the cartridges. So, Epson has found a way to make sure you purchase their ink. Or, at least until someone figures out their little trick.
Wastes too much ink - very expensive to maintain by sodacon ,Jul 22 '08
Pros: Prints are average at best. Cons: Consumes way too much ink which ultimately makes it a lousy printer.
I loved it at first, however it consumes way too much ink, it's just not worth it, unless your rich and can afford to spend $100 on ink every month. It wouldn't let me just replace the black cartridge so I could print out some lyrics, it wanted all the cartridges replaced for $100.00. That's when I decided to auction off the printer and get rid of it.
Pros: QUALITY and tons of features. Great printer. Cons: Ink use may negate savings from multiple Cartridges. Prints much better on Epson paper.
I have had my RX-580 printer for about three months and love it! It prints GREAT pictures, does a great job on DVDs and CDs and the scan quality is top notch.
It does a better job on Epson paper than on off brands; but Epson paper is no more expensive than other quality paper, and if you use cheap paper you usually get cheap looking prints on any printer. I recently scanned a good 5x7 photo and then reprinted two copies they looked better than the original! The ink use seems to be even across the colors. No savings there, I suppose. But after three months of moderate printing Im just now getting to the point of needing to change the black, yellow and light cyan.
Yes, the ink carts are expensive, but most are.
Software that comes with it has some nice features and easy to use interfaces, too.
Overall: Value, quality and performance make this a good printer. I would buy it again.
