Pros: Copies, scans and prints all reasonably well, especially at this price point Cons: The ink isn't cheap; slow startup times; high quality equals long waits
I absolutely hate replacing hardware. Not because it's tough to do, but there's that nagging feeling that you're moving laterally but spending money, that you're not adding all that much functionality. I suppose that's why we agreed to move up to an ...
Pros: great quality prints, great price, easy controls, direct read of memory cards/pictbridge, flexible ink refills. Cons: none, to date.
We had been using a Lexmark printer for the past 4 years and it was time for a change. We wanted a flatbed scanner, the prints were coming out a little fuzzy, a little dirty, and the maintenance programs did nothing to fix the problem. Lexmark ink ...
Pros: -nice print quality
-small phootprint Cons: -printing directly from memory card is a pain
-consumes a lot of ink
Build Quality: average. When I first took this printer home, it felt nice and solid, and it felt like it would last. As time has worn on (a little over a year) the piece of plastic that supports the paper has broken off and it sounds like it is going ...
Pros: It does print very nice pictures, when and IF it is working right. Cons: Wastes ink. Piddle with it to print. Ink heads dry out or clog constantly.
I have had one headache after another from buying this printer. I first bought the Epson stylus CX4600 all-in-one printer. It worked great for a month. Pictures printed with it were beautiful. Then the ink started disappearing. It seems that the ...
Pros: price, options. Cons: heads die and ink drys out when not in use.
I have been reading, now that my printer stopped working about the same problem with others. My printer heads would dry out after just a week of use. I would try cleaning and cleaning and it wouldnt do a thing other than me using up new ink ( yes its ...
Nice, compact unit. Does a good job on all the functions. Ink does not last well at at and is very expensive to replace. Cannot switch to black only if any color cartridge is out of ink. Must have all cartridges with ink to print anything. Would not buy again due to this ink issue. Epson acknowledges problem, but has no workaround. I just had to pay $40 for colored cartridges just to be able to print in b/w.
Save your money – buy a laser printer! by designcentric ,Dec 02 '05
Pros: Easy to use Cons: Print quality, ink cartridges are expensive and run through quickly
This printer has been an absolute disaster. I have never had a printer that uses ink so quickly! It seems cheap up front but the ink costs exponentially increase over time.
I had a HP ColorLaserJet 1500 and it was more up front but cost half what the Epson did to maintain the ink supply.
The overall print quality is marginal. It's okay if you're doing personal stuff, but not good for anything but kids homework or letters to grandma.
Trust me, spend a little more on a small color laser printer, you'll be glad you did!
This printer will work great for a little while, and then it will begin to clog and require head cleanings constantly. What originally seemed like a great deal on an all in one printer will soon become a nightmare as you could have spent the same amount of money in the long-run on a much better printer. The ink even disappears when the printer hasn't been used!!! I have sent a letter of complaint to Epson. I am interested to see if they even respond to me. A few months ago, I received a check good for $40 worth of Epson products as a settlement in a law suit against Epson by other dissatisfied users. I should have realized then that this product is nothing more than an extravagant scam to get you to purchase hundreds of dollars worth of ink from Epson. Also, the scanning isn't that great. You'd do much better to just set up your digital camera in macro mode and shoot away.
Pros: Easy to use, Super Fast, Bright ink, & looks great. Cons: None as yet
I have just purchased this printer and I have to say that it is a great deal for the price. It scans very nicely, makes copies quickly, and the over all printer is super fast. The colors really are brighter than my other printer, which was a lexmark. All I have previously used has been lexmark, but I wanted to give epson a try with all the great things I have heard about the product. The extra digital card reader makes things much more simple too. I also like the look of my electronics and this one looks sleek and expensive, but so affordable. I am not sure how the ink usage will be in the long run, but it doesn't seem to be taking too much as long as yet.
Same problem here as most of the other reviewers. Ink!
When I had XP, I was able to run out the ink cartridges. Now with Vista, if ones out, your done printing till it gets replaced. VERY ticked off about this feature. Especially since the cartridges aren't actually empty. GRRRRR
Pros: NONE Cons: READ MY COMMENTS. THEY SAY IT ALL
The printer i have is less than a year old. I have spent mega dollars on ink. The purpose I bought it was for the all in one, and it professed to do quality photo printing. N O T
Now it doesn't work at all. I replaced the ink cartridges, ran every bit of the troubleshooting for it, nozzle cleaning, head cleaning, etc and it won't print at all. The paper comes out like it went in, B L A N K......
Now I hear that others may have been having the same problem. I am calling Epson to see what they will do about this.
A good printer - when it works by doctorh ,Sep 20 '06
Pros: Low purchase cost, good print quality, works well with Macintosh Cons: Print heads clog often, reducing life of ink cartridges.
Like other reviewers, I was pleased with the print quality, especially on photo paper. It's an easy install and inexpensive (about $100). However, I find that the print heads clog frequently, which requires using ink to clear the heads with the utility.
I bought this printer to replace an aging HP all-in-one printer/scanner unit whose drivers were not keeping up with MacOS X updates. In spite of the print head problem, which occurs roughly once each week or two, I am pleased with the unit.
Pros: Price Cons: Price, not compatible with Windows Vista Home Premium even after installing the drivers.
I have the EPSON CX4800, I purchased it brand new at Circuit City, it was originally 129.99, but it was on sale for 69.99. It worked fine until I got Windows Vista. At first the new drivers to maintain compatibility were unavailable for months, and now after installing them it still does not work. I cannot print anything, not even a test page. The ink is highly overpriced, it does not last long at all and to change the cartridge takes forever. Epson has really created a Lemon here. I feel ripped off and I can't return it because Circuit City has a 90 day electronics return policy. I will never ever purchase any EPSON product again. Their products are riddled with issues and problems. EPSON I hope you get into another business, not the Printing business, you guys have failed.
Pros: Sometimes prints well, very cheap Cons: Extremely unreliable, expensive ink, constant clogging,
It prints slow, uses A LOT of ink, clogs frequently and at very inopportune times, but most maddeningly, YOU CANNOT PRINT ANYTHING IF ONE SINGLE CARTRIDGE IS OUT. I just bought a brand new, $20 black ink cartridge and am unable to print a single document because my yellow cartridge is out (this happened to be the one cartridge they didn't carry at Target). This is extremely frustrating. I recommend investing in a quality printer instead of trying to save money on what is obviously a clever marketing ploy to boost ink sales.
Pros: Fairly Good photo printing at times Cons: Nozzles plug up and overpriced ink
When the nozzles aren't plugged up it prints alright. When they plug they must be cleaned and this wastes a lot of ink.
A set of ink cartridges cost over $50.00 and they don't last long. They sell the printers cheap so they can rip you off on their ink. I would never buy another Epson printer.
